Since 1970, she has created images through twenty to forty layers of wax pencil, achieving depth and detail not possible with charcoal or graphite. These intricate drawings have won awards and received recognition starting from her initial art competition in 1972. In 1990, Massey began complementing her precise drawings with equally detailed paintings that have followed the same award winning path.
